The mission of the UNLV Center for Materials and Structures (CMS) is to conduct materials and structures research, provide research opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, support student design competition teams, and provide educational and outreach activities in support of the local community. CMS strengths include the characterization of materials in harsh conditions, design and fabrication of mechanical devices, development of custom structural component experiments, robotics mentoring, and computational simulation of structures under extreme loads. The center has extensive materials performance laboratory and computational mechanics facilities.
